Synopsis:
The film explores the intelligence of man. From the emergence of primitive
man all the way to man turning into pure thought (The star child for you
dumb fucks).
Review:
Well lets face it, this film is fucked up. The film is two hours long
and it only has 40 minutes of speech. Now dats fucked up! I've also heard
so many different view points on the film, some saying it's a masterpiece
others call it a boring opera. For me….ahhh, it was cool, but it wouldn't
be anything without HAL. HAL makes the film, although one could get tired
of him saying, "stop Dave stop". From about 5 minutes straight. The film
is pretty realistic scientifically speaking, until the end where it gets
surreal and everything is all fucked up.
Now, I'm not saying
this because I don't understand the film. Fuck dat shit, nigger. I dig
the film, but I don't need to see a close up of Kier Dullea's eye in 27
different colours for ten minutes straight. But I still dig it.
On another note, Pink
Floyd's "Echoes" matches nearly exactly to the "Jupiter and Beyond The
Infinite" sequence. Both are 23 minutes and 47 seconds long. Try it out
if you get bored with the classical music score.
Special Features :
Well this disc came out before the Kubrick collection came out. And thank
the dear Lord for that. The special features are great. The trailers are
just that, but the real jem is the interview with Arthur C. Clarke. The
booklet was informative but lets face it an audio commentary would have
been da shit!
Video:
Get the fuck out of here! I love widescreen, the wider the better (unlike
women). Dats why I'm so glad dis mofo is 2.35:1. And the picture is crystal
clear. I don't give a flying fuck when it came out, dis is one sharp mother
fucker.
Audio:
The boys at MGM really put a package together here. The new 5.1 soundtrack
is outstanding. Keeping this film in mono would have been a sin. Thank
God the boys put their heads together and thought to put it on the disc.
Great job boys.
"Daisy, Daisy, Give
me your answer do….I'm half….craaaaazy all for the love of you. It won't
be a stylish marriage…..I can't afford a carriage…but you'll look sweet
upon the seat….of a bicycle made for two…….." HAL 9000 singing
