Synopsis:
When Captain Amazing (Champion City’s #1 superhero) falls into the hands of the evil madman Casanova Frankenstein and his disco-dancing henchmen, there’s suddenly a chance for aspiring superheroes the Mystery Men to show what they can do.

Review:
Mystery Men is undeniable proof that a great cast and a great premise does not a great movie make. What the hell happened? The script sucked big donkey dick. That’s what happened.

The MM script isn’t funny, and that’s the heart of the problem. Most of the jokes fall short of the mark, and the sight gags are way too predictable. I could have written a better story, and that’s fucking scary.

Do yourself a favour and rent this sucker first, better yet, rent one of the BATMAN films (they’re unintentional stupidity is far funnier than MM could ever be).

Special Features :
The “Spotlight on Location” featurette was alright. Watching it reminded me of how hyped this movie was before came out. It contains a lot of interviews, but not a lot of entertainment value.

The commentary track featuring Kinka Usher (director) was a complete waste of time. Mr. Usher drones on and on about what he wanted to do, but didn’t. I’m actually kind of glad that he didn’t do all of the things he wanted too (if he had this would have been a 3 hour movie).

The deleted scenes are also a complete waste of time. Who would really want to see out-takes from a bad movie anyway?

“Universal Soundtrack Presentation” a.k.a. one music video. Who cares? Not I.

I was somewhat confused by the Music Highlights feature. Is it me or is adding a feature so that I can jump to a scene where there happens to be a song playing in the background a little stupid? Please send in some comments about this. I’d like to know if anyone thought that this was a good idea.

The “Origins of the Mystery Men” Comic book characters and production notes were informative…but then again, a waste of time as I had no real interest after watching the movie.

There are also DVD/ROM features on this disk, but I was unable to access them on my player. You’ll have to check them out for yourself.
