Synopsis:
Our hero Ash gets tossed into 1300's and fucks with the Necronomicon. This causes the evil army of the dead to rise. So Ash kicks some ass and chews some bubblegum. A classy story all around.

Review:
I really enjoyed this film. No matter how many times I see it I still love it. The only complaint I have is that it seems to go by too quickly. The special effects in the film are dated, yes very dated. It's excusable though since it wasn't a big budget film and it came when CGI in films was rare.

The Directors cut version with the additional footage was cool and worth it. I had never seen or heard of the original ending and a lot of the shots that were added actually added to the film. Unlike some directors cuts.

Special Features :
The theatrical version had the original ending on it, which after seeing it I like more than the theatrical ending. The Behind the Scenes featurette was pretty cool and it added to the feeling that this movie was a blast to make.

The director's cut had some really cool features on it. The audio commentary was about as funny as the movie. Bruce did most of the talking but that's cool cuz he's a smart mother fucker. I always pictured him to be a smart ass, shows what I know. The 4 never before seen scenes can be watched with an audio commentary with Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi or sans the commentary. Mind you the quality of the scenes weren't that great but that's all right. The storyboard section was cool cuz it acted like a subtitle while the movie plays. It didn't really add to the movie but hey, it looked cool. Something that isn't on the back of the box is an artwork section. This was cool but I felt it wasn't large enough.

Video:
The quality of the transfer was good and bad. There was times when the picture was sharp but there are other times when the picture was full of dirt. The best example is when the Ash and his car is falling out of the sky. The picture is full of dirt it really looks like shit. Other than that it was all cool.

Audio:
The sound was great although some times it seemed a bit faded. An OK job by the boys at Anchor bay..
