Review:
I love this fucking movie. It is a classic film which has reached cult status. I can see why too. The film is a black comedy on atomic holocaust. Even though there is a serious side to the film, it is riddled with comic relief. The acting and the comedic timing is absolutely outstanding. This film is the closest Kubrick came to perfection.

The film would have never gone anywhere without the fantastic acting by George C. Scott, Peter Sellers, Sterling Hayden and Slim Pickens. You'll also notice a younger and thinner James Earl Jones in this film. But don't watch this for the voice of Vadar cuz it ain't a big role.

Another thing that makes this film so great is the classic scenes in it. What with that dude riding the bomb and all. Damn, that's what I'm Tallinn' bout! And the fact that Sellers plays three very different roles is fucking great.

Special Features :
Before I get started in this section I just wanna say one thing. Why are so many fucking movies being re-released as special editions? I hate that fact that I had to by this disc twice. Why didn't they just make a special edition of this bad ass right from the get go. And it seems like this is a new trend with the studios. Let me tell ya this kinda shit really pisses me off. Ok I'll get off my soapbox.

This disc is far superior to the older release in this category. The crew over at Columbia did up a bang up job on this disc. The new documentary: The Art of Stanley Kubrick from short Films to Strangelove was great. All the aspects of the film were covered and there were interviews with all the cast and crew that are still alive. The documentary is nearly an hour long and it was worth the watch. Fans of the film will really appreciate this feature.

The other documentary: Inside the Making of Dr. Strangelove was well done but it seemed a little short. Still it covers a lot of things that were cut out of the film and it shows how they made Slim Pickens ride the bomb. A classic scene if I do say so myself.

The original split-screen interviews could have been really cool but they end up being a little boring. The interviews are prerecorded and TV stations would use them to show that they were having a live interview with the actors even though they weren't. Now the only bad thing is that the disc only contains the answers the actors had said. This makes things weird because they are answering question you haven't heard. Fuck, it's confusing just writing about. Trust me, the boys that did the same kind of thing for the James Bond series did it right, these guys didn't that's all you need to know. Still if you're a fan of the film like I am you'll still watch both of them and enjoy it. I'm just a picky motherfucker.

The original advertising gallery was interesting to go through. It was cool to check out how they advertised the film in various countries like France, Italy, and Japan. There aren't that many pics but the ones that are there are great. The theatrical trailers are the same as the one on the original release DVD. Lastly I did want to mention that the animated menus are really fun. Usually I couldn't give a flying fuck for animated menus but in this care they do add to the disc.

Video:
The transfer is roughly the same as the other disc but there are places where the picture quality is better on this disc. The multi-aspect ratio transfer comes out looking fine a great job by the boys over at Columbia.

*A bit about the multi-angle aspect ratio. This is a awkward way to shoot a film and I'm not quite sure why it was done, but this is what it all means. Some scenes are full frame and others are widescreen. The aspect ratios range from 1.33 to 1.85. The only thing I didn't like about this was that the widescreen ratios had fuzzy black bars.

Audio:
I found the audio to be almost the same as the original release. The only thing different is how many languages you can listen to.
