Synopsis:
Some chick goes to Egypt to finish the excavation of a tomb her grandfather started. Her team unknowingly awakens Talos the mummy, who follows the team back to England where he begins retrieving his lost body parts (to resurrect himself).

Review:
I want to say that this movie sucks, but that wouldn’t be fair. It would be more accurate to say that parts of this movie suck. The script was nothing special, it's not the most original stuff in the world, but it was alright (I’ve seen worse). The problem with this movie is that nothing was pulled off very well.

The S F/X looked like shit. Some of them worked and others didn’t, which made the ones that didn’t work look so much worse. The acting wasn’t that bad though. Sean Pertwee does a stand up job in the team member-gone-psycho role, and Christopher Lee delivers his cameo with ease. Jason Scott Lee is capable of so much more, it's to bad he has to deal with the Sulu-factor. As for the rest of the cast, I’ve gotta say they were a little disappointing. Shelly Duvall is still painful to watch (Zorbs said it all in his The Shinning review, so I won’t go down that road again), as for Honor Blackman, (a.k.a. Pussy Galore – Goldfinger) bitch still can’t act and she’s aged badly to boot (not that she was really that good looking to start with. Again see Zorbs’ review of Goldfinger).

I take it back. This movie did suck.

FYI: Russell Mclcahy is the director. He’s the cat that made the first Highlander movie, as well as the first Poltergeist film.

Special Features :
There were none. The only thing on this disc that remotely resembles any kind of feature is a movie recommendations section. I found it quite amusing that all of the recommended films (except for The Crow: City of Angels) are better than this movie.

Video and Audio:
I couldn’t see any problems with the video transfer and the Dolby 5.1 should keep all you audiophiles happy.
