Synopsis:
This dude Titius gets fucked over a few too many times, so he decides to get some revenge, Shakespearean style.

Review:
I gotta tip my hat to my man Bill, this is some heavy fucking shit. It's amazing how well he understood every aspect of the human condition.

Now my brother say's that "there's been too many shapkesperean remakes lately", but I think he's wrong. I think they're great, and Titus is no exception. This movie was really cool. Sure the language makes it a little hard to get into, but once you figure it all out, it pays off in spades.

That said, Titus delivers on all fronts. This is some hard-core shit. It's apparent very quickly that Romeo & Juliet this ain't. Titus is a revenge picture, pure and simple. That's probably why I liked it so much.

Aside from the great performances (most notably by Hopkins in the title role) I got give this picture high praise for it's visual style. I loved the way this movie was shot. The framing was amazing, and Taymor's use of colours and costumes deserves the attention of the Academy (I know, I sound like a fag, but really though, this is one sharp looking picture).

Special Features :
This Bad boy's stacked like a mofo, and for the most part it's really worth watching.

The commentary track with Julie Taymor and Elliot Goldenthal was quite good. You can tell from the way Taymor talks about making this film that it was a labour of love. Goldenthal doesn't say that much though. The scene specific C-track with Hopkins and Lennex was fairly well done, and it gave a good insight into the way these two gentlemen conceived how their characters should act.

The second disc had a lot of goodies too. The "Taymor ay Columbia University" interview was really good. Again Taymor goes into detail about making this film, and there isn't too much over-lap from her C-track, I'm happy to say.

The Making of Titus documentary was great. Covering everything from the first reading with the actors, to the filming of the movie, it was well worth watching.

The "Penny Arcade Nightmares" section covers how all of the special effects in the film were made. I found it to be a little boring.

The Costume Gallery is just that, drawings of the costumes used in this film. Although I did like the costumes, I don't really think that this was needed as a feature. The American Cinematographer Articles are actual text articles written about this film. In all honesty I didn't read them. But hey, knock yourself out if this kind of thin does it for you.

Lastly the trailers and TV spots. They were all well and good, but they beg a question. Where the hell were they when this movie came out? I had never heard of Titus until it came to our local review cinema, and I didn't bother to see it because I knew nothing about it.

Video and Audio:
This picture on the DVD looks amazing. The guys who did this transfer have got their shit together. And the 5.1 Dolby audio does a stand up job too.

In all honesty I couldn't find one line that stood out as a good "one-liner". So you're going to have to watch the whole thing, like I did, and pick you're own.
